I love this cottage. Probably my favourite of all six in the terrace at St Fagans. It’s set in 1895 and the era when mass-produced decorative belongings became more affordable and began to adorn the homes of working class people. Nothing as lavish as the maximalism of the Aesthetic Movement that the middle class could aspire to, but small ornaments such as the jugs hanging from the ceiling or the Staffordshire-esque figurines on the mantelpiece began to be treasured and allowed families more ability to express greater individuality.
